Why from a triangle?
This was designed specifically for a folding challenge to create something out of a triangle, with equilateral triangles being preferalbe. So, do not baww at me for using an equilateral triangle on this one instead of a square, since I was just following the challenge rules.
Making equilateral triangles from origami paper
To make an equilateral triangle out of a square, although there are ways to fold your own guidlines, you'll make better usage of a square by area if you just do it the tedious way with a ruler and/or protractor and using one full side of a square as one full side of the triangle. This is the method I used.
Usage Policy
This design isn't too complicated, so I would not be surprised if similar designs exist. However, it was not created using any similar references. If you follow my diagrams to create an octopus and wish to post the result as artwork either here or elsewhere, please credit the design you used to create the model.
