My Bio

I am an computer scientist doing interdisciplinary research involving AI, language, and music. I am also a composer and do various kinds of art on the side. Most of my art these days is in the form of origami and algorithmic work (reactive audio-visual work).

I've just published a second round of origami designs/tutorials called Paleo Origami: Dinosaurs, Pterosaurs, and More. As the title suggests, this collection is centered around dinosaurs and other prehistoric animals. The book is available both as a paperback and eBook on Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08XH2JRHW In this set of designs, I focused both on including more paleontologically up-to-date representations of some creatures and on featuring some more unusual animals that often don't make their way into the paper folding world. Paleo Origami utilizes color more strongly than my last book, both in the diagrams themselves and in the display models. The kindle version of the book is also in color for devices that support it, but still compatible with black-and-white devices. A couple of design highlights: Velociraptor (with suggested wing/tail feathers) and a Trilobite.

After many years of designing and folding origami, I finally put together a book of tutorials for a bunch of my designs: An Origami Farm. As the title implies, the book has a bunch of farm animals and other farm-related designs. It's currently available on Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08M8DBG7Q/ Since Amazon's "look inside" feature can be a bit hit-and-miss for books like this, I made my own page with more details on the book that includes the pictorial table of contents and a video flip-through to give a better idea of what the paperback and kindle versions are actually like: http://www.donyaquick.com/an-origami-farm/ The only design in the book with any similarity to my older/existing designs on DA is the horse, which of course is the same base as my unicorn but with the end flap of the head folded into a mouth instead of a horn. The diagrams are overhauled for the horse; they are cleaner and more detailed than was the case for my original unicorn tutorial. All of the other

(Updated 15-Feb-2020 - specifically regarding video tutorials) I have been asked a lot of things over the last few years and many of the messages have probably gone without replies, either because I didn't see them due to not logging in or because I was too busy and swamped with e-mails. Hopefully this list of frequently asked questions will clarify most of those cases and future ones as well. Q: Can I make a new video tutorial of how to fold one of your origami models and put it on YouTube/etc.? A: YOU MUST GET MY WRITTEN PERMISSION AND MUST ADHERE TO ANY CREDITING REQUIREMENTS I MAKE IN IT. Some of my diagrams are published in a book now

can you help me with your dragon? its awesome but I cant figure out how to fold the legs. your dragon is the best and I want to make it the best I can.
Howdy! I've folded the Parasaurolophus, and I made a few modifications to it as well to make it look more life-like. I reversed the "Arm" flaps and tucked them under the legs and made a squash fold to thin and shape them. I crimped the tail and tilted it downward a bit so it was parallel to the table. I folded the tip of the face inside and squished the crest. From there, I gave the crest a roll to curl it to a natural shape. With your permission, I would like to send you a photograph to show the vanilla instructions and my modified Parasaurolophus.

BTW, your origami is by far the best that I've encountered! I've seen other people's origami which had instructions but they were so hard to follow, my attempts at them are quite messy. Yours is much cleaner and easier for comparison.
Your chemistry cartoons are amazing! XD
Wow! Your stuff is so amazing!! O.O
Wow, I haven't tried folding any of the creatures you have instructions for yet, but I'm a big fan of Origami and I just wanted to say thank you for having these wonderful guides! ^^
You are a true artist! I love all your work! I was wondering if you could post the instructions to your origami moose. I think it is the most adorable thing ever, and I really wanna make it! Thanks.
you're origamis are very cool!!
